Position Descriptions

FRONT DESK AGENT

Department: Front Desk

Immediate Supervisor: Front Office Manager

Previous Experience Required: None - Will train applicant but preference given to those with prior customer service exposure.

Position Summary: Applicant must possess an insatiable desire to exceed guest expectations in all facets of the hotel's operations. Must be passionate about sales and customer service. Ability to multi-task and prioritize under pressure is an asset. Must be a friendly, outgoing individual who possesses the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Position Duties: Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Recognizes and greets the guests. Responds appropriately to their requests and anticipates their needs.
  • Uses suggestive selling techniques to sell rooms and services.
  • Promotes in-house d3h marketing programs.
  • Operates switchboard, cash register, POS machines and hotel property management system.
  • Completes paperwork necessary for front desk operation such as registration folios, credit card vouchers, cashier reports, room reports and prepaid reservation log.
  • Balances cash and credit card transactions each shift.
  • Performs any tasks assigned by management such as training of other employees and inspecting and cleaning rooms, when needed.

NIGHT AUDITOR

Department: Front Desk

Immediate Supervisor: General Manager or Supervisor

Previous Experience Required: None - Will train applicant but preference given to those with prior customer service exposure who are comfortable working with numbers and have a desire to work independently at night.

Position Summary: The night auditor must be detail-oriented and a self-motivated individual. Night auditors ensure that all transactions have balanced from the current day of business. Typically their daily shift is from 11pm to 7am.

Position Duties: Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Checking guests in and out and assisting them with any requirements throughout the night.
  • Performing the night audit, filing and faxing reports.
  • Setting up the Continental Breakfast.
  • Programming wake up calls.
  • Delivering guest newspapers to their doors.

BREAKFAST ATTENDANT

Department: Housekeeping/Food Services

Immediate Supervisor: General Manager, Head Housekeeper or Supervisor

Previous Experience Required: None - Will train applicant but preference given to those with prior customer service or food services exposure.

Position Summary: The breakfast attendant is responsible for serving breakfast daily while maintaining a clean, comfortable and outgoing atmosphere for all guests.

Position Duties: Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Greets guests at all times in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Ensures that breakfast area is always clean, including tables and all counters.
  • Stocks all items and makes coffee during and after breakfast.
  • Washes and wraps all housekeeping dishes.
  • Orders all items that are needed for breakfast and picks up any that cannot be ordered.

HEAD HOUSEKEEPER

Department: Housekeeping

Immediate Supervisor: General Manager

Previous Experience Required: Prior housekeeping or supervisory experience an asset.

Position Summary: Applicant must possess an insatiable desire to attain the highest levels of cleanliness in all areas of the hotel. Must lead by example in attaining the d3h standards set out for the Housekeeping Department. Must also have good relationship-management skills and be a service-oriented team player who is excellent at delegating and training.

Position Duties: Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for supervising the housekeeping operations. Provides guidance and direction to housekeeping team.
  • Ensures uncompromising levels of cleanliness in rooms, hallways and lobby.
  • Performs a variety of duties such as supervising the housekeeping staff and inspecting their work. Ensures all rooms are cleaned and inspected by the daily deadline set out by the General Manager.
  • Works with General Manager to ensure the housekeeping associates clearly understand their job and receive training.
  • Prepares Room Attendant's Daily Report: Assigns specific rooms to each room attendant and designates any specific duties for that day.
  • Supervises housekeeping personnel to ensure that carts are properly stocked and that all room and laundry assignments are completed according to the property's standards.
  • Follows up with room attendants regarding any discrepancies from prescribed standards.
  • Ensures that department goals are communicated, understood and met by housekeeping staff.
  • Takes regular monthly inventory of linen, cleaning chemicals and laundry chemicals. Prepares requisitions or places orders for those items and room supplies. Ensures that budget for these items is maintained.
  • Communicates and enforces compliance with hotels safety and emergency guidelines.
  • Maintains continual communication with maintenance and management regarding room conditions and inventories.
